Deastro played at Cake Shop

deastro

Deastro is Randolph Chabot, whose singing and laptopping are joined by a three-piece live band at shows. My friend couldn’t stop telling me about how Randy was a stranger to the Detroit scene not too long ago and how much he has built up since then. It seemed like the room was filled with devoted (and gleaming) Michigan expats. While the frontman burst into short fits of aggressive dancing and cycled through props (such as the pictured large pair of sunglasses), he couldn’t help noticing some faces that hadn’t stopped smiling. The show ended with him infiltrating the audience for another bout of dancing, later remarking on the things they had stepped on and the speaker they had knocked off, “We’re usually not this sloppy”.
