In the minute-and-a-half clip posted by the London Paper on You Tube, Feist talks about not having owned a TV for years. But the paper’s website features a lengthier interview that includes clips of an outdoor performance. She talks about working with Jane Birkin and Broken Social Scene, home as an “elastic concept” and more.

One more Books video from the Wordless Music performance at New York Society Ethical Culture.

The Books played at New York Society of Ethical Culture as part of the Wordless Music Series. The set was similar to the one at Webster Hall (read my review), with the noteworthy exception of a new song. In “8 Frames,” the 8-beat or 4-beat loops in the video that accompanies it serve as the rhythm.

The video is not necessarily worth raving about, but: it’s Beirut, and “Elephant Gun” is a gorgeous song, so I’ll be watching it every now and then (disclaimer: I’m not sure if songs, especially the great ones, should have a music video at all, even though they make such a great channel for first-rate video work, which I’m a fan of). Though not an exceptional video, however, the set looks pretty, and there’s a sense of sadness in it (isn’t there?). I’m thinking of Zach Condon reading Borges. Somehow there seems to be a connection. The choice of colors I like too. And the elephant tusk “mask” I would buy one for myself, because it looks kind of neat, but I’m suspcious about whether its inclusion in the video is the best choice. But, to give you real information, Alma Har’el, who directed this one, is also working on one for “Postcards.” In spite of my confusion over how I feel about music videos for bands I really really love, I say to that upcoming video: Wheee! and Hurray!

They’ve got an office and a guy to ship these things out to people who’ve bought them. This is what Jona wants to show.

I’m already tired of Bjork and Feist showing up everywhere. Because what I really want to hear about is Beirut’s next album, or the Books. But I’m sure you’d like to make your own Bjork video, so here are the details.
And of course there’s the third installment of the Volta podcasts. She thought the hippies had already done with the idea of taking care of nature, but oh no, we’re not done yet.

Speaking of Malajube, I am excited for the upcoming Daytrotter Session that has been scheduled for April 25 (they’ve got the Silent Years up this week). For now, though, the band’s got a new video for “Etienne d’Aout”, directed by NuFilms. It’s not on You Tube yet, but it’s about a man who wakes up in a burning battlefield with an arrow in his leg. It’s from the era we now recklessly call the Lord of the Rings era. The man finds a dead friend and it’s all hilariously melodramatic.
#45 Andrew Bird
This time La Blogotheque has taken Andrew Bird to Montmartre. Quite a few bystanders in these take-away shows (what fun!), and lots of yellow sky and silhouettes. First one is “Weather Systems” and second “Spare-Ohs”.

I was happy to find this Malajube video of fabulous quality this morning. Though the original recording is two years old it seems to have made its You Tube debut yesterday.

Also, Malajube thinks the Montreal hype is “bullshit” created by the media (video interview after the jumper):
